Allocation Chart Traffic Light System Part 2

 

Below is a description of how the allocation chart mileage traffic light system is calculated currently in Prohire.

The below working examples will use date - 16/02/2012


 

To get a green light on the allocation chart - Vehicle A Example

First we need to work out what the OMTD actually is, this is done by:

 

Entry Miles = 100

Entry Date = 01/01/2012

 

Exit Miles = 10,000

Exit Date = 31/12/2012

 

  1. Proposed Miles = Exit Miles - Entry Miles è 10,000 – 100 = 9,900

 

  1. Proposed Days = Exit Date - Entry Date è 31/12/2012 – 01/01/2012 = 365

 

So the optimum miles to date (OMTD) for this vehicle would be:

  1. OMTD = Proposed Miles / Proposed Days è 9,900 / 365 = 27

 

Now work out how many miles are left for the vehicle to cover

  1. Future Booking Predicted Miles = 0 (no booking(s) taken on the vehicle)

 

  1. Miles to book before vehicle exit date = Proposed Miles - Future Booking Predicted Miles è 9,900

 

Now work out how many on fleet days are left for the vehicle

  1. Days left on fleet = 16/02/2012 - Exit Date (31/12/2012) = 319 days

 

The green highlight on the allocation chart is now worked out by:

 

  1. Miles to book before vehicle exit date / Days left on fleet = 31.03448 è which is within 10% of OMTD

 

To get a yellow (amber) light on the allocation chart – Vehicle B Example

First we need to work out what the OMTD actually is, this is done by:

 

Entry Miles = 100

Entry Date = 01/01/2012

 

Exit Miles = 10,000

Exit Date = 01/04/2012

 

  1. Proposed Miles = Exit Miles - Entry Miles è 10,000 – 100 = 9,900

 

  1. Proposed Days = Exit Date - Entry Date è 01/04/2012 – 01/01/2012 = 91

 

So the optimum miles to date (OMTD) for this vehicle would be:

  1. OMTD = Proposed Miles - Proposed Days è 9,900 / 91 = 108

 

Now work out how many miles are left for the vehicle to cover

  1. Future Booking Predicted Miles = 5000

 

  1. Miles to book before vehicle exit date = Proposed Miles - Future Booking Predicted Miles è 4,900

 

Now work out how many on fleet days are left for the vehicle

  1. Days left on fleet = 16/02/2012 - Exit Date (01/04/2012) = 45 days

 

The green highlight on the allocation chart is now worked out by:

 

  1. Miles to book before vehicle exit date / Days left on fleet = 108.8888 è which is greater than +10% of OMTD

 

To get a red light on the allocation chart – Vehicle C Example

First we need to work out what the OMTD actually is, this is done by:

 

Entry Miles = 100

Entry Date = 01/01/2012

 

Exit Miles = 10,000

Exit Date = 01/05/2013

 

  1. Proposed Miles = Exit Miles - Entry Miles è 10,000 – 100 = 9,900

 

  1. Proposed Days = Exit Date - Entry Date è 01/05/2013 – 01/01/2012 = 486

 

So the optimum miles to date (OMTD) for this vehicle would be:

  1. OMTD = Proposed Miles / Proposed Days è 9,900 / 486 = 20

 

Now work out how many miles are left for the vehicle to cover

Future Booking Predicted Miles = 9,000

 

  1. Miles to book before vehicle exit date = Proposed Miles - Future Booking Predicted Miles è 9,900 – 9,000 = 900

 

Now work out how many on fleet days are left for the vehicle

  1. Days left on fleet = 16/02/2012 - Exit Date (01/05/2013) = 440 days

 

The green highlight on the allocation chart is now worked out by:

 

  1. Miles to book before vehicle exit date / Days left on fleet = 2.045 è which is less than -10% of OMTD
